Our History


2005-2006
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation owns Qikiqtaaluk Equipment Limited. The objective of the company was to provide a full range of heavy equipment and related services in Nunavut and Northwest Territories. It is also expected to be activated for environmental cleanup contracts. QC formed Qikiqtaaluk Logistics Subsidiary in 2006 to lead an environmental cleanup Project.

2006-2007
QC severed its first contract in the Mining Industry for employment recruitment and road maintenance at the mine site.

2007-2008
Qikiqtaaluk Logistics was formed and secured key contracts with Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation (BIMC), in the areas of camp services, logistics and support. The Mary River iron mine is located about 160 kilometers south of Pond Inlet. QC purchased and leased a significant amount of heavy equipment and transferred it by ship to Milne Inlet to be used to maintain the roads on site.

2007
Qikiqtaaluk Logistics provided Peregrine Diamonds expediting and Human Resources services. This involved expediting, vehicle rental, camp mobilization/demobilization, Human resources, recruitment and warehousing services.

2008-2009
Qikiqtaaluk Logistics registered another very good year, continuing to develop and undertake profitable contracts in 2008, including Mary River Mining Project, Cape Christian Remediation Project, and Peregrine Diamonds. In the summer 2008, QIL signed a two year and a half contract with PWGSC for the Cape Christian Remediation Project and mobilized the necessary equipment for the 2009 season.

2009-2010
Qikiqtaaluk Logistics employed 310 people and 80% of them were Inuit recruited form all over the Qikiqtani Region as well as Kivalliq. These employees gross salaries, wages and benefits totalled $4,468,905. A major training program and investment for the training of 200 Inuit was submitted to the QETC Board of Directors for approval.

2012-2013
Qikiqtaaluk Logistics changed its name to Qikiqtani Industry Ltd. In addition, the Qikiqtani Resources Agency was created to service the mining sector, allowing access to QC’s extensive employee database. The database includes everyone who has been recruited by QC over the years and worked on a number of projects in remote areas.

2014-2015
The completion of the last available DEW Line clean up the project division reinvented itself by expanding services to the mining and resource development sectors and other areas where the experience gained was valuable.Partnerships
